Just wandering about …
So the National Arboretum is just on the outskirts of Washington D.C. and it has many styles of gardens from the well manicure to a little bit wild. They have these greek style columns.
What’s a garden without a bug or two.
So Centennial Park is another suburban park in the Baltimore Washington area. It’s a place of picnics both human and waterfowl.
It’s very pleasant and people have a way to get away from the hustle and bustle.
And there is also the Canadian Geese Flotilla swimming along side the human powered boats.
Canadian Geese have a great deal of power in their legs. When they swim, it looks without effort.
So it’s always a bit weird that ducks relax near the restaurant. I guess they know they are not on the menu!
So I was out a very nice summer’s day especially for Maryland not so hot as to be uncomfortable perhaps too sunny. Many of the other birds must have been elsewhere but there were other Nature’s flying creatures about.
Took a ride on a miniature train ride and saw some
farm animals.
Then went on the road and saw a heron. Wish I could get closer or had a larger lens but there you have it. If you click through you’ll see other pics with the turtles, curious ducks, swimming geese …
A flying bug taking a walk around the flowers near the lake.
The flowers are also refreshment for other insects.
This big fella was sunning on the tree in the lake.
The lake is a man made one. There’s boating and fishing available. I’m not a fisher person so the fish are safe from me. This lake is not from the maddening crowd so this a good place to re-center oneself.
