Just wandering about …
So it was a cloudy Sunday and I went driving around after Mass. And I pass by the pond by the side of the road. Look what I found.
Now I don’t know if it was a true White Heron or a juvenile Blue Heron but it was a sight to see.
But the geese didn’t mind sharing the watering hole.
But I would be re-miss not show that the goslings have reached their gawky stage.
The feathers are coming in and you can see a tinge of blue.
So it’s late Spring and the weather has been interesting. The geese and herons do not frequent the larger lake because to many humans taking picnics.
The heron spends the late afternoons here with the ducks and the geese.
The sun is beginning to set. The weather warm but not hot.
So I was driving by my favorite places. I happen to see three sets of Canada Geese families it was quite a sight to see.
As you may note they were coming ashore and they did stop traffic. But the adult geese kept order !
The goslings are pretty cute.
So the tree swallows at the Patuxent Refuge Research was flying about. Energetic little things.
So the geese were a little cranky by the side of the road. They were a bit territorial because they are ready to nest I guess.
And so were the tree swallows in another part of the county. Finding a rental can be brutal in the DC suburbs.
So my annual drive to the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. It was a bit rainy and solemn for an Easter Sunday. The larger birds weren’t in display but… the little guys are good. Spring has been delayed in the Mid-Atlantic region but as you can see there is hope.

So we had a Holy Week surprise in Maryland. Snow! Of course in this area SNOW is a four letter word. But it was all gone by the following day. It was one of the few snows of the season and it happened in Spring.
So while people were getting chips and dip. I decided to go to Greenbelt Lake. It was peaceful and snow gently falling. The geese beginning to leave on their journeys.
