Just wandering about …
The snow monkeys are a colony from Japan. They do care for each other and yet … I think they long for home.
This is were I get conflicted about zoos, but at least they’re safe and the place is large.
So I continued walking into what Central Park Zoo map indicates is the temperate zones…
The Black Stork was there … rather attractive
Then I saw the White-Naped Cranes and they had one young very rare in captivity.
Trying to guess ….
They were protective the parents.
So the next few entries are about my little trip to the Central Park Zoo which is in the middle of Manhattan. It’s a little zoo. But it has a lot of animals. It was a nice day the sun was shining.
The Seals… are an attraction. They are fun. And yes it would be nice if they were all free, but then I wouldn’t get a chance to snap a pic or two.
The ‘trainers’ are there to keep them the seals active and take care of the seals eyes.
So these are a bit dark but I was experimenting with shooting in low light. But I share my attempts anyway. One of things I noticed that twilight is a busy time for the little birds.
So it was still cool, but it’s a sure sign that spring was to finally come when turtles were popping up in the pond. They do like to have company when they go out sunning.
There are a lot of them.
Seagulls doing barre work … ballet or gymnastics. You decided.
Oh and a goose taking a time out . Who happens to be a long time resident.
A change of pace, I sometimes go around and find other churches to go to and admire. This is a very large one with many little quiet places …
It’s relatively easy to get to and there’s plenty of parking.
So in winter, the geese yield some water to the sea gulls. Or perhaps the sea gulls choose to go more inland. In northern PG county, the sea gulls tend to go to malls and not for shopping but for food scraps. But some of the malls are near ponds and lakes, the sea gulls take a dip and fly.
